Let me take you back to what my instagram game was back in 2017.
Back in 2017, I found myself depressed. In a toxic relationship, with a failed vintage boutique, a mountain of debt and an impounded car. I got a job at starbucks because it was in walking distance & may as well done so with a bag over my head, I was so ashamed. I so desperately wanted to leave my reality behind and create something bigger. So I jumped in and tried what I could.
My strategy consisted of this: Hashtags with no rhyme or reason. Ones I saw being used by everyone else. Feed full of photos of my clients or flat lays around my home. I felt so stupid putting my actual face on my feed. Last minute scramble to post and burn out after struggling to stay consistent.
So much stress, such a headache and still NO followers. I was trapped at 400 for what felt like forever. I was putting so much energy into it that could have been spent on building my actual business! And no return on the time I was investing. I needed a change.
They say nothing changes if nothing changes. So I changed my tune.

I was depressed. In 2017 I found myself trapped in a toxic relationship with a man struggling with drug addiction. My retail vintage shop failed, leaving me with crippling debt, and an impounded car. I'd walk to my job at starbucks & get told to mop up poopy bathrooms by a boss that was a good decade younger than me. But I refused to stay defeated. There was always a little idea tugging at me. That I was meant for more. I wanted to create. I wanted to set a better example for my little boy. It was that little idea that there was more to life that kept me going. Every time I got knocked down, I'd get back up with an "is that all you got?" attitude.
